Faculty
of Management Studies organized a Webinar on 10th October 2020 with
a topic- “Leadership lessons from ISRO pioneering leaders of
Prof. Vikram A Sarabhai & Prof. Satish Dhawan”, where 122 participants
participated in the Webinar. The Webinar was moderated by Dr. Mittal Dattani.
She gave a brief introduction of Mr Ravisankar, who is currently working as
Head-HR, Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Ahmedabad. The Welcome address was
given by the Dean of Faculty of Management Studies, Dr. Sourbhi Chaturvedi.
Mr.
Ravisankar discussed the Webinar in the form of Storytelling. He started with the
discussion of Space race period of 1957, 1961, 1963, 1965 and 1969 and some
pioneers who landed on Moon. He also mentioned about India’s first space
shuttle Aryabhata and Apple. During 1960, the condition of the country was very
poor, but Scientist Vikram Sarabhai convinced our government to use space
technology for development of nation and with his own network he got financial
support from the International Community for development of Space technology.
He mentioned about the Genesis of ISRO and how ISRO became the successful
organization. Mr Ravisankar discussed the profile of ISRO pioneering leaders and
discussed why and how they were different from other leaders. They were
different because they had the qualities of Visionary, credibility, and concern
for people. He narrated about the leadership qualities of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai
and Dr. Satish Dhawan by discussing various incidents. Their sacrifice towards
nation and people made them big and renowned.

Question-Answer session was also conducted in which participants asked various
questions related to the topic with great enthusiasm. All the queries were
taken up by Mr. Ravisankar in a very positive and healthy manner. At last Dr, Mittal
Dattani extended a vote of thanks to Mr Ravisankar, the team of panellists and
participants of the day.
